Ferry sailing schedule change for 2009
Hello all
Smyril line has just announced that the Norrona ferry will not sail to Norway or Scotland next year.
I just wanted to let you know if you are planning to use the ferry next summer.
It will sail to Hanstholm in Denmark, Torshavn in the Faroe Islands and to Seydisfjordur Iceland and thats it.
This will make the time on the boat shorter in some cases but it is a major setback if you are traveling from Norway or the UK.
Here is the new one:
SAILING SCHEDULE
Best Regards

Update
I called the Smyril Line office here in Reykjavik and they told me that the new price list for 2009 will be announced soon.
They are holding their hands for a little while until some rest comes to the currency markets.

Joiben, thanks for the heads up. It would seem that everything is in the way of us poor Brits getting to Scandinavia these days. I had a loose plan for a 6 week Iceland, Norway and Sweden trip next summer but It's looks as if I can't get the time off now anyway. I was going to use Smyril to get me back home from Bergen too, oh well.

Camnz, the only ferry at the moment is Harwich-Esbjerg or the channel crossing. The Smyril line ferry never went direct from Scotland to Denmark as it went anti-clockwise Scotland-Faroes-Iceland-Faroes-Denmark-Faroes-Norway-Scotland. There is always hope of a summer only Newcastle-Norway but I'm sure we'd have heard of something by now.
There is the Newcastle-Amsterdam route. ironically they're using the king of Scandinavia and the Princess of Norway ships on this route!
