Bordercrossing Uzbekistan -> Tajikistan

Hello,

since we ride the Pamir-Highway in June, I'd like to get some information regarding possible border crossings in the Stans:
The question is:
Is it possible to cross the border at Penjikent on the road from Samarkand / Uzb to Dushanbe / Taj.? According to the information from this web site: Uzbekistan border crossings | Caravanistan, it wasn't in 2012.

Thanks for your help.
Martin

What, a miss the fun of two passes and/or two tunnels - one which is "unforgettable" ?

That crossing has not been open to non-Tajiks or non-Uzbeks for some time.

Yes we know.
We bought 100W headlight bulbs to survive this famous tunnel.

Assuming it not open again, the border crossing from Denau to Turnsunzoda is the one we used last year it was okay, but has no excitement.

No. You can't. North of Bekobod Oybek (UZB)- which is south of Tashkent/North of Bekobod to Buston (TAJ)

or

Denau (UZB) - Tursanzade (TAJ)

Crossed the southern route at Denau 2 days ago. took just under 2 hours in total, no problems. Dushanbe is only 70 or so km from this border also. No dramas.

Thank for information.
Yes it's not a drama, but it's a detour of about 200km.

Its only a detour if you don't want to go that way! and Pajikent is closed, so you have no choice other than north or south.
