Punta Arenas, Chile

This is a copy of a posting by amcwillie:

In Punta Arenas, Chile There is a dirt bike shop called Motoescar F/Fax 221245 I forgot his name, but he installed a fork seal in my 03 Dakar in late January this year. I had the seal and he called Santiago to get the info he needed. Those guys made love to my bike and make me go get fork covers from a bike parts store so I would not have any more trouble. Fabulous guys and very very helpful. He knows everyone in town and got a KTM rear spocket machined to fit my buddys regular F650 gs. WOW
Hope this helps

Curtis

Gonzalo Javier Escarete Yutronic. Carrera 666. www.motoaventura.cl motoescar(you know what comes here)123mail.cl

Top man, helped me no end including getting Karoos for my 1100GS flown down from Santiago, and they were still cheaper than UK!

Regards, Mick

p.s. Edited to spell his name correctly.

Agree,
top man!! Did the same for me. He picked up the phone to Santiago and flew in new KTM 640 Adventure sprockets and chain from Santiago in only two days (which he thought was slow, should only take one day he thought).

There is a quick movie clip from the store from my helmet cam on swedishrider.com - adventure dashboard if anyone wants to see what the place looks like.

Lightbulb Tyres in Punta Arenas

Gonzalo sorted new tyres for me yesterday: his Motoaventura buddy had new MT60s on the shelf and fitted them for $148,000 Chilean. This would be a real bargain if only the pound wasn't so weak.

Top bloke, and only four other gringo motoqueros outside his gate at opening time!

Regards, Mick

+1 for Alejandro's shop. He has a lot of big bike tires in stock: Heidenau, Pirelli, Metzeler, Bridgestone, Continental. Highly recommend. Located at: -53.146648,-70.898112

Also there's 1-2 shops over in Zona Franca (Free trade zone) that has some moto tires. I didn't see any front tires but did see some rear tires in 150/70/17. I recall seeing Mitas, Pirelli and Maxxis brands. Located at: -53.135405,-70.87306

Muy Bueno

I am officially a little in love with a man called Alejandro!

I tried literally 10 places in Punta Arenas to get new tyres for my GS 1200. All were wild goose chases. Fortunately a guy put me in touch with Alejandro who fitted new K60s and gave the bike back cleaner than when it rolled off the production line!

So low this morning, sooooooo happy right now.

Muchos muchos gracias Alejandro!

Hey Everyone,

Just to let you all know Gonzalo closed up shop a few years back and is no longer in Punta Arenas. I just spoke to him.

Alejando is however.

Good luck!
