Hi there,
Not sure how far in your planning you have got but I have two bikes for sale in Nanyuki. Might suit you as I brought them in from the UK and then registered them in Kenya so they have full Kenyan registrations but, if returned to the UK would just need an MOT and road tax paying as they have been UK registered in the past (still have the old V5s). They are Wr250Rs - this is the blurb I put on a Facebook ad:FOR SALE
YAMAHA WR250R (x2)
First Registered 2008 and 2010
Fuel injected dual sport bike with long service intervals (Oil change 3,000 miles, Valves: 26,000 miles) capable of multi day trips (see below) as well as enduros and commuting. Fuel injection deals with altitude changes, rear frame is steel so ready for weight (equipped with passenger pegs). Very low mileage.
I "ummed and erred" over what bike to buy having owned, ridden, travelled on and rallied all manner of trail and adventure bikes from Yamaha's XTZ750 Supertenere to the KTM 525 XC to Suzuki DR400 to the iconic Yamaha XT600Z to Suzuki DR350 etc etc. This bike does everything one needs and more. Just look at these sites for inspiration and confirmation:
North America: ShadowOfTheRockies/Colorado
South America: http://web.archive.org/…/wr25…/t4763...-south-america
UK to Siberia: Ed’s WR250R | Brighton 2 Siberia
TransAfrica: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CJDUyntjS-8
This is what we have been up to in Kenya on the bikes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMQp1Db40Kk
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4VM5I5Rksk
as well as week long trip to Lake Turkana
All taxes paid and Kenya registered with registration document and plate.
Extras: IMS 4.75 US Gallon fuel tank
Radiator protector/brace
Case saver
Handlebar risers
Renthal bars
Touratech rear rally light
Headlight protector
The bikes are Nanyuki at present.
Price: £3500 each ono

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
