From Spain to Eastern Europe, The Baltic, Russia Scandanavia and, er back again!
OK, it's a big one, I'm hatching an idea of a big run, based on some very delicate diplomacy in the Simon household, i.e. if I get to do this trip in 2011 Mrs Simon gets to go to Panama on a trip scheduled for 2012!
On to the trip: France, Italy, Croacia, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany and Poland. Then along the Baltic to St. Petersburg, calling in on Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia (hopefully in the right order!), onwards through Russia to cross into Finland where I'd like to spend San Juan (the famous Spanish Midsummer fiesta) basking in the midnight sun somewhere north of the Arctic Circle, ideally on the North Cape in Norway (so I don't think I'll need to pack my trunks!) Then back through Norway to Denmark and perhaps a detour to the UK - not too sure about that though - I'd prefer to cross direct from Norway to England, not that I've anythig against Sweden or Denmark, but I've had far too much time crossing France over the years and I'd like to catch the boat to Spain from the English West Country, as well as catching up with my old mates (still biking so I gather!) in the Welsh border counties - plenty of opportunities for days out there methiks!
I have a few mods in mind for my BMW G650 X-Country, which, under the circumstances, I'm going to rename the 'X'-Continent* - and before you say it I've already thought of 'N-Continent' - try saying it out loud, ha ha!
So, any kind of advice about the route and/or preparing the bike would be more than welcome!
Regs
Simon
* OK you heard it here first folks - patent pending!
