hi all (i'm new )
will be flying in to AGAdir next week, as starting point to go to mali. was planning to get a visa at brussels embassy. but they just told me that is impossible (as i have not r/t plane tix, nor a registered vehicle - as i will be travelling without)
as i fly into AGA, it seems ridiculous to go back up to Rabat, but it would be at least as stupid to get stuck at the border..
(reading the kidnapping story, i am also wondering whether is it actually that smart to go through mauritania at all..)
would be very glad to get some thoughts on this!
all the best,
chr

Mauritania embassy in Rabat
Does anybody have a the Gps co-ordinates for the the Mauritanian embassy in Rabat. Went to the location in Casablanca, but not there anymore. Also the International Camping Oasis is closed (November 2009) not sure if it was for the season or permanently.
Doubling back to Rabat tomorrow. hoping to get there for the 0900 opening of the embassy.
Cheers,
Rick

Rabat and other details here.
Dont know International Camping Oasis but I think campings dont close in Mk - now is the busy time with motorhomers etc.
Christiaan - IMO you will have to go to Rabat.

From my (limited) experience
easy, fast, economical and even pleasant to get the Mali visa in Nouakchott.

You can get a Mali visa at the border. At least it was no problem in February 2009 for a Swedish citizen.
Is it possible to obtain double entry visa for Mauretania at the embassy in Rabat? It would save me a Mauretanian embassy visit in Bamako or Dakar on the way home.

Hi,
You can get a 2 month, double-entry visa at the embassy in Rabat for 510 MDH (1 month, single-entry is 340 MDH). We got our visas there 2 weeks ago and that was definitely an option.

You will have to go trough nomansland (3km unpaved) and when you've crossed the railroad you can turn right to Nouadhibou or left to Noaukchott. At least that was the case in Feb 09.
Where were less carwrecks everytime I go through the border and some day I think nomansland will be paved aswell.
