Lightbulb Mauritanian embassy

I have been given to understand that the Mauritanian embassy in London will be closing its doors for the last time end Aug 07 , latest end Sept 07.
Nearest one after that will be the embassy in Paris.

I got a visa in Madrid a few years back on the way down. Stay at the campsite out near the airport, catch the subway into town and it's just around the corner from one of the stations.

Staff were unhelpful as I spoke nothing useful, I had to get a letter from the NZ embassy (we actually had one in Madrid!) but they gave one easily enough the next day - it could have been the same day if I had got there early enough.

Madrid is vaguely on the way down and worth a couple of nights if your on a longer trip...

One that said the same things as written in my passport. The NZ embassy just gave me a form letter saying they don't issue letters like that and the Mori embassy was happy enough.

(Basic problem - I was not a resident of Spain)

All a few years ago so maybe it has changed now...

If you're heading to Mauri and presuming they no longer issues at the border, you can pick it up same day in Casablanca(Morocco)...I did in Nov 2006. Arrive by 9, pick up form, make sure you have photo copy of your passport and pics, submit form, and come back after lunch and pick up...20Euros for 30-45 day visa...

Casablanca is a heckuva lot cheaper than Madrid and there a great campment .5km from the Mauritanian embassy called the Oasis I believe...cheap.

Yip, but I like to go through Melilla and head down the east of Morocco towards Figuig etc, missing out the likes of Casa and the rest of the populated north west, so Madrid might be a better option for that route....?

Visa Mauritania 2007

hi bert
you still can get a visa for 10 euro at the mauri border, but its now only a transitvisa valid for 3 days, you must go to Nouakchott or Atar to get a visa for 30 or more days. Nouadhibou is not possible.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
