Selling a bike in Chile/Temp import issue
I am thinking of selling my bike in Chile. Bearing in mind that the bike will be on a temporary import permit, and having violated that by not having the bike leave within the 90 days or whatever, what is the likelihood that the Chilean customs will come after me for duty etc once I have returned to the UK?
Anybody any experiences to share on this?

Hi,
Sell your bike between the boarders of two countrys...go there with the new owner export it from your name and import it to the next country on the name of the new owner.

Best country to buy a moto in SA ?
Hi,
I'm searching the best country in SA to buy a moto...
I want to visit : Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina...
Where the best place to buy, with easy and quick administration paper ?
I read on the hubb in Chile that's takes 10 days to have the RUT and approximately 3 weeks for all, but on an other website somebody wrote : "now (few months ago) that only takes few minutes..."
Is it reall ? If that's right, that's want to say I can have registration in a couple of days ?
Thanks for your help..it's really difficult to found goods informations... but I really need it to take the difficult choice between ship my bike or buy one in SA...

My research last year led me to Chile as the best place, although a bit more expensive. It is however easier to get the bike across borders and out of the country.
The RUT is doable in a day, the big catch is that it is a commercial number and tat means it takes longer to buy a bike privately. Use a dealer and the bike can be put into your name that day.
The important doc is the padron (owner of the vehicle). If not in your name, you cannot get into Peru.
What you can do, is start the paperwork process. Then get a notary letter for authorisation to ride the bike in Argentina/Bolivia. (about 2500ARS per copy).
When you get to northen Bolivia, cross to Arica in Chile and collect the documents/padron there. Then carry on north.
Unlike us.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
