Mendoza BMW
Has anybody on a BMW have any recent history with the dealer in Mendoza? I need to get plugged into a computer. ABS fault.
I heard Javier tell tale of a private non affiliated BMW guy in Mendoza. He said that he has more parts on hand than the dealer. Can anyone tell me where he is? |

You're looking for Carlos. I can tell you no more as I've lost his address (he's on the east side of town) and number. The BMW car dealers directed me to him and he also services the police bikes so they may help also. If you need any more leads, he runs an ice-cream making business and an ice cream parlour.
See if you can get a look at his collection of old bikes hidden away in racking in a back yard - there's some pretty valuable stuff gathering dust |
You can reset the ABS yourself.
Did it fault after a drop? |
ABS reset
No it faulted when one of the two bolts on the brake caliper vibrated out and the caliper was knocking into the spokes.
I have disconnected the battery, no luck. ABS reset in the ADV rider halls of wisdom is for a bike (mine is a 1150 GS Adventure 2004) with a six pin diagnostic plug. Mine has five pins. Guess which pin is missing or labeled differently... the ABS pin. I hate to say it but after 20,000 miles, some hard, some soft... I need a f%&·in`dealer so they can plug me in. If you can offer some technical assistance, hook a brother up. |
Yes!

Abs
Hi Bert,
I just had her plugged in at Genco BMW in Mendoza. I need a new sensor. I wouldn´t recommend them to anyone unless they were in dire need. Fortunately the sensors are not that expensive, about 150 usd. What 30 years with no ABS and you are still alive!!! I know ABS isn´t that much of a need to have item, but, i did get used to having it. In my mind it got me out of a few accidents on the way down. I do like to have everything on my girl working. I hate blinking red lights. I`ll have to disconnect them! |
ooo eerrr
sorry to read that they were not up to the mark.:(
ABS has saved my bacon a few times - problem is - one gets complacent and frsutrated when it is not working- I understand fully. Hope you got the part you needed though. Getting the part is half the battle- with a few posts you can usually sus out how to sort it. A usefukl piece of kit to have is the '911' diagnostic dongle linky GS-911 Only nuisance is that your phone must be JSR82 compliant. If it is gr8. My 1200 'died' and stopped...... diagnostic pointed straight away to the fuel pump... At least knowing what is wrong is a good start IMHO. Stay upright! |
Too late to help here, but this might be useful to someone with ABS problems on K series BMW:-
Clearing ABS-I (and possibly II) Faults it has worked for me on two bikes. Lots of good articles and tips also. |
