I am sure I have met a few people like that, mostly at a rally for owners of a specific model of German motorcycle I went to last year

The animation was done with a program called State - available free at xtranormal.com (the program is free but the "assets" - voices, characters, sets - cost a small amount to license). There is an online version on the xtranormal site, so you can try it out without a lot of hassle.

The titles and other post-production editing were done with Adobe Premiere.

Be warned - the animation is addicting! This project began as a doodle, and quickly got out of hand. But it's lots of

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Time? What's time? Really I don't know. It started out as doodling around to see what the software could do. Then grew into the piece you've seen. The process is addicting for me. I really enjoy playing around with it. I'm already thinking about a sequel, but the grass needs mowing, the garage is a mess and if the rain ever stops - gotta ride. In any event - best I can offer about time is that I probably spent about 3 weeks playing with it in spare moments.

There is an online version of the software (nothing to download) at xtranormal.com, you can get a feel for what it's all about by making your own clip. But beware - there is no 12 step program for animation junkies as far as I know.

Cheers, Mike

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
