Belize, Guatemala from the USA after New Years

Hello everyone,

Planning to head south from Wisconsin for Guatemala after New Years. I am open as far as the route is concerned. I will ride my KTM 640 Adventure so I won't be a speed demon. I will truck the bike until it's warm enough to ride it.

I am an experienced motorcycle traveler(done a RTW trip a couple of years ago). I am an experienced mechanic and a Registered Nurse.

Anyone headed south in that time frame?

Hi Bill,
I will be heading south from LA to Argentina at the end of January, while this may be a bit late to catch up at the start of the trip I may see you on the road further south. Stay safe, happy travels!!!

Curious about the length of your trip. Gonna have to ask for a certain amount of time off.

Guys,
Had a moment of wavering but I am back and solid. I was thinking about switching to the Baja but I want to see the Tikal ruins in the jungle and kayak in Belize on the Caribbean. It's a must.

I plan on 2-3 months on the round trip.

The bad part for me is that the big single KTM likes to run around 60-65 mph so I am a little slow.

Just looking at maps I think I'd follow the coast from Brownsville to Vera Cruz and then head inland for Chipas and south but I am open.

I was around Cozumel and Cancun before they became major tourist stops so I will avoid them. Mexico has some big inland lakes I'd like to see and the Tikal ruins(Flores) and the Belize Islands and coastal area.

It's all gonna be good.

My cell phone number is 715 966 2001.

DZ guy I will call or call me.

Here's a picture of me showing what a harmless idiot I am(with a couple of broken ribs, in mongolia three years ago).

Hi Bill

My riding partner and I will be crossing into Mex at Tecate Jan 16 going down thru the Baja first then crossing on the ferry to the mainland. Planning on the Copper Canyon then Belize and Guat. plus whatever else looks interesting. Timeline is about 8-10 weeks

Bump for this thread, leaving Wisconsin Jan19-20 heading for the border at Brownsville, bike in tow until the weather improves.

Still planning to head south to Tampico, then to Vera Cruz and San Christobal.

More as it happens.
DZ guy and another Canadian rider and I are planning to hook up in route and cross together.
It's all good.

Hey Fred, I am with a Ukrainian, Valarii Kryshen, (on a RTW trip) and a German Ulli and we are in San Jose, Costa Rica and we are heading to Cangreja only 30 KM southeast tomorrow. Eventually, we'll get to Panama.

Are you in the area?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
