Desperately need a Cdp for a nigerian registered bike
hello everybody
I need a cdp for my next trip but being in Nigeria and having the bike registered here seams a problem to obtaine a carnet. Got in touch with ADAC but I have been told they cannot do anything. Does anybody know where I can obtain this goddamned piece of paper.
Please any information will be heartily welcomed

Hi Tarisius
Try the UK Automobile Association. The AA in UK will issue a carnet for non-UK residents and non-UK vehicles.
You can't reach the carnet department via their website, but you can reach them at +44-1256-493753 or by E-Mail to: internas@theaa.com . They can fax the application forms to you, but will require originals to be mailed back to them before issuing the carnet, so allow time for that.
Alternatively try the RAC (also UK), which also can't be reached via the website, or by e-mail, but you can "Speak to the wonderfully helpful Sue Collins 01454 208000 ext 33837."
Good luck, let us know if that works.

Hi Susan
Bad news indeed!
My girlfriend phone both RAC and AA and this is what she was told:
RAC do not issue cdp to non British
AA does not issue cdp any longer; I hope this is only temporary.
Rather frustrating!
Do you have any idea how much one has to deposit at the Egyptian border for a Dommie year 2001, cause this looks like the only option left for me if I want to do my trip and I just want it.
Best regards
Tarisius

Hi Tarisius
That is very bad news, and must be a recent change in their policies, likely due to political instability in the Middle East and Asia.
What is your planned route at this time? Egypt is a difficult country to bring a vehicle into even with a carnet, so I cannot advise you on entering without one. Perhaps a different route might be possible.
In your situation, although I am not recommending this approach, see the following posts and read them all the way through:

As the man says, you pays your money and you takes your chances!
Good luck and please keep in touch to let us know how you go.
