Insurance re-entering Europe
Hi
I'm at the tail end of a year and half riding through Africa. Have given up waiting (5 weeks) for a Libya transit visa here in Egypt and preparing to return home through E Europe. I am looking for advice on what to do about insurance. Presumably I will buy Turkish policy at border, what about after that - Bulgaria or Greece? Is it possible to get a green card in Turkey that will bring me all the way through Europe home to Ireland (where the bike is registered)? Presumably I could renew my old policy with Carole Nash by email but a) problem with getting it into my hands, and b) funds fairly low and that would be expensive!
Appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks, Hugh.

I just tried asking Carole Nash the same question for when I get back to Europe and this was their response:
Sorry we are not able to offer cover. The cover would have to have been started whilst you were still in the UK. We are not able to reinstate expired/lapsed or cancelled policies.
On your return to the UK please call our quotes line on 0800 298 5500 and an advisor can discuss your best options to suit your needs.

You can use Arisa to get you from Greece to Ireland for only 22 Euros a month. See this thread and contact Jorge Terrao. He answers e-mails and seems to be on the ball.
You can see details of what you're buying here but get it direct from Arisa.
Hope this helps.

Nice find, Stephan. I actually found the insurance co. on the web before I set off, but in Germany it's just easier to walk into an ADAC office. I never thought they might sell their policy direct.
If I remember correctly all the non-EU countries were crossed off, so I had to buy insurance at the borders for Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Well, 'had to' means I did, nobody asked me to do it... in TR I forgot! 8-O against my own advice.
Cheers,
Peter.

Have you had insurance because you wanted it during your trip ? I'm off to India next year and was wondering where it is required by law coming from the UK, passing through Greece,Turkey,Iran,Pakistan

Hi, Peter
I can't take credit for that. I've used Knopf in the past but someone else was smart enough to track down the source for us.

Thanks for the info. I presume after I pay I will be able to print a copy of my policy from email? A pal recommended ebikeinsurance. Anyone know how they compare?
