RORO from Tokio to Canada or US
I'm preparing my world tour travel for this year, and I want to cross Russia and then, Japan.
I want to ship RORO my motorbike in Tokio (or some place in Japan) to North America west Coast (Vancouver o Seattle, for example) but I don't found any information.
I ask several companies with "ferrys" RORO in Japan but all of them only do shipments of cars.
Can you help me? Thankyou!

Hi
I'm also preparing a world tour from next April, and I'll start from France. I'm looking the same thing and for the moment I've received one answer from a Shipper from Japan . It's a German shipper who has an office there. It's Interfracht Shipping. They can ship a bike by container only and told me that RoRo don't take motorbike anymore.
I wait for other answers. Maybe Air Canada can ship but I have to call them again from March or April
When do you plan to leave?

From what I hear from other travelers recently, there is no motorcycle RORO services to North America. Interfracht seems to be one of the most recommended, but you will have to crate the bike. You can get a used metal crate from some import motorcycle dealers. That will save you money over having a crate built, even if you have to rent a truck for a day to transport the crated bike to the port/warehouse. Vancouver would probably be easier to clear customs than Seattle.
I wouldn't put much hope on air freight from Japan. It seems to be prohibitively expensive. I don't think Air Canada offered their discount service from Japan in the past. Air freight out of Japan seems to go for a premium price due to the large amount of precision electronics and the like taking up the available space and paying a price that no traveler could afford.

Thanks Chris ans Nicolas.
I want to wait for Air Canada quotation, but if it is very spensive, I will choose the Vladivostok-Vancouver-by-container way
Thanks a lot!

Hi
You're righ Chris. Interfracht confirmed me that RORO don't accept owner's vehicules no more. They give me a quotation and it's about 2200 € all charges from Yokohama to seattle (with a carnet de passage en douane). you can contact Reina Kanai in tokyo (rk@interfracht-jpn.com)
Shipping from Vlad can be a good idea if it isn't more expensive
Wait and see
See you soon
