Shipping from Panama City to Bogota -- Part 2
Made it to Bogota and retrieved the bikes the same day. Girag is just a 10 minute walk from the main terminal. It is on the right side of the main road (El Dorado) as you walk away from the terminal, on a frontage road. If you are walking there is a break in the fence (you will use it later). If you are driving go just past the huge had holding the cell phone and turn onto the frontage road and go back to Girag. Get paperwork from the lady and then go across the main street to Aduana. Look for signs that say DIAN. They process some paper and send an inspector back across the street to verify vin numbers and such. Back over there we put on mirrors, windshields, and rain gear (damn) then had to ride thru an office and down two sets of stairs and we were free. Took about 2.5 hours total (with the walking and waiting and reassembly included). No costs at all (except pennies for some copies at DIAN)! Bikes in good shape. Yes, it does seem like the costs keep going up! Bet they would refer to the cost of gas (just like in the USA)! ;0]
