KLR Tech Area
A KLR tech section would be great. I know a lot of people who use and abuse these bikes for
travel including myself. There are quite a few personal sites on the web but no boards like the ones you have here that I know of. I'm sure you could interest a bunch of us into posting.

You got it! Great idea, don't know why I didn't think of it myself... duh. I'd appreciate any "spreading of the word" to interested parties that you may be able to do! Interested in moderating the forum? Or know someone who would be?

I'm not sure what kind of moderator I'd be. What does it entail?

Moderating is actually pretty easy - you need to understand reasonably well how the board works, so a good review of the FAQ - (worthwhile anyway) and spend a little time there. Answer when you can, point to the answer when appropriate, and delete inappropriate posts - (haven't had to do that yet.)
When a post is made in the forum, you will receive an email, and you can respond or not as you see fit. This also means you don't have to actually check in to the board, you will always know when there is a change.
Sometimes a post is in the wrong forum, so it needs to be moved - that's easy for a moderator. If you need to move a post,
move it right out to another forum and don't leave a copy behind. I like to send a note to the poster informing them of the change. Rarely have to do it though.
That's it!

Ok, I'd be glad to do it. Just as long as I don't have to be a technical expert. Just learning like the rest of us.

Membership - help keep us going!
Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
