Passed through the Thuringa Wald (forest) a couple of years ago returning from Poland.

It's worth going to the Czech Republic as it borders Thuringa & Saxony if you're going that far. I found that prices for accomodation etc were slightly cheaper than Bavaria etc & quite good value.

Good Trip.

Steve

Did a similar route a couple of years ago. My g/f is German, stopped off at her place in Hamburg for a while, then on to her parents in Berlin, into Poland via Gorlitz to Karpach & on to Wroclaw, where her top box was broken in to - avaoid the crappy mosquito infested campsite next to the river at all costs. On to Krakow, good campsite to the north west of the city centre. The underground salt mine at Wieliczka, a few miles south east of Krakow is also worth a visit if you have the time.

Came back through n/w Slovakia & crossed in to Czech via Makov in Slovakia. On to Prague on small roads, on to Karlsbad & back through the Thuringa Wald to Kassel to visit more friends before heading home.

Excellent journey.

When & where is the UK HU meeting?

Steve

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
