Kingdom or read our previous
visit to Belgium
5/6/11 Back on the European continent
and riding a very familiar road from the ferry port towards Belgium. We
first met Savina in Sikkim, India, back in 2007, and have been in email
contact since, and we have visited her family in Belgium a couple of
times since then. As this is likely the last time we will be visiting
Europe by motorcycle, possibly the last time ever, we are saying
farewells to friends here. Again it was a lovely visit, with a loving
family. A Sunday night the whole family was there, three sons, now
living away from home, plus a girlfriend, Savina and Jean Francoise and
their
daughter, still in school, and ourselves all sat
down to the Sunday evening meal. Conversation, as always here, was
lively, questions and answers to catch up on a two families happenings
since we last met.
6/6/11 A short ride, meeting halfway for a coffee, was Herbert,
another Belgium friend, who we have known
for over 10 years, a
motorcyclist, BMW rider, a long distance rider, many times to Russia
and last year he travelled from the North to South America. Apart from
saying, perhaps a shorter goodbye as we might again meet up along the
road, we also collected information from him regarding shipping our
motorcycle to the USA and onwards as his knowledge was much more
current than ours. A couple of coffee's, a couple of hours, and we
returned to Savina's for an evening stroll, walking the dog around the
lakes near their home, and stayed there again for the night.
7/6/11 Early start heading for Germany, autobahns as the
weather was drizzly with sunny patches.
