A Personal Profile (Aug. 96)

Background

I am married, 43 years old with three children, started riding motorcycles when I was 18 with a Honda 90 trail. Next bike was a Honda 175 trail, then a 1939 Harley 1200 Flathead. For the next 20 years I rode mainly dirt and trials bikes on a rural property only returning to the big road bikes in 1994 with a view to extended travel by motorcycle. Having travelled with the family backpacking around Indonesia, India, Egypt, Italy and Greece it seemed the best way to travel was by motorbike. It offered the freedom, flexibility and above all the pleasure of riding. The bike I purchased was a 1994 Harley-Davidson Electaglide Classic. Clocking up 25,000 km while living in northern Australia before heading overseas.

Past.

I have recently returned from a trip to Thailand, from Townsville Australia having stored my Harley Davidson motorcycle in Bangkok. The trip took me through Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and a brief excursion into Burma all over a six month period (3/2/96 - 16/7/96). I travelled alone for most of the way with my wife joining me in Malaysia for four weeks.

Present.

Having returned to Australia, I am currently planning my next trip and setting up this "Web" site for myself and other international motorcycle travellers.

Future.

I will be shipping the bike from Bangkok to Bangladesh then travelling through India, Nepal, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and onto Greece. Again taking six months and leaving on 31/12/96.
Again I hope to return to Australia to rest up before attacking the North African countries of Syria, Israel, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco and then Spain.
West Europe for a couple of years followed by Eastern Europe and across to Canada and the USA. I hope to arrive in Milwaukee for the 100th anniversary of Harley-Davidson manufacture in the year 2003.
