Adventure travel show
Came across an adventure travel show on the web, planned for Feb. Be something to do if you're not on the road somewhere.
Overland & 4x4 Travel Show - Home Anyone thinking of going? I see some familiar names on the exhibitors list... |
I might go, if only to laugh at all the tat people try and flog you as 'expedition essentials'!
you never know there might be something useful in there in amongst all the nonsense!:Beach: |
I might go. I'm currently in the middle of my year off traveling the world but will be back in the UK for Feb. And I live near Lemington so no reason not to go.
We should all meet up and have a motorbike group that walks around and laughs at all the "stuff" 4X4 overlanders think they need! |
maybe you should post this somewhere other than the 4 wheels forum then:welcome:

Unnecessary Tat
Well I’ve got a 4X4 and I also like to amuse myself by looking at all the tat that some people are convinced they really really need.
I once went on a trip with someone who had bolted that much junk onto his LR that it weighed 3.5 tonnes before he even loaded it up with fuel, water, food clothes etc. Of course he then had to have heavy duty suspension fitted………… which then allowed him to fit an even bigger winch/winch bumper Having said that a bit of an unnecessary poke. I still like to go and look and dream even if I’ll never buy it:innocent: Russ |
overland show
Hi all,
The show is organised by the same guy who began the Indoor 4x4 show at Donington a few years ago. It's the show's first year and will be fairly small scale, but as it's aimed at overlanders and not specifically L*nd R*vers, it could be interesting. And it's only a fiver to get in... Happy trails, Jojo |
Might be something of relevance to our one wheel drive brethren (plus 2w/d Ural outfit owners of course :innocent:)
Maybe some positive biker input would encourage widening the scope of exhibitors / remit of the show next time? Far rather be INclusive than EXclusive myself. Oh, and I've seen some bikers over the years laden with expensive looking tat too, so it's not just a 4x4 thing :rolleyes2: Maybe this is why he's known as "Lonesome"? |
'Oh, and I've seen some bikers over the years laden with expensive looking tat too, so it's not just a 4x4 thing'
long way round anyone:oops2: |

True! :stupid: Sorry - :oops2:doh |
humble pie can start to taste good after a while, take it from someone who's eaten plenty beer!

while its great that there is an 4x4 overland travel show, Its mostly the same commercial tours/suppliers and odments that come with Land Rover shows. I cannot see anything new coming out of this.
Now the Adventure travel show in London, with its talks etc. COMBINED with some hardware might be the way to go, it would certainly make me more interested. Im swaying more toward the London show (Im in Bristol so almost equidistant!) but will likley venture to the abenteuer-allrad show and maybe the RGS one up north end of May. who knows. G |
i'll probabily take a wander as its pretty local to me
Don't exactly need to buy anything but like you say its always entertaining, anyway probabily no one is selling things to fit an iveco unless theres a reasonably priced wheel builder there I'll be heading up to Sams RGS meet in May - was great last year but still a little landrover/toyota centric , would be nice to see both bikes and bigger trucks covered more |
I'm going to give the indoor one a try, but aren't holding much hope of it being much different to the ordinary indoor one.
Quite fancying the one in London but it's a fair trek down so will have to see what happens. RGS - for sure. it's only a few minutes from my house and it's gotten bigger each time A&A - hopefully :thumbup1: |
have you got any info on RGS?
