Buying a car in Russia as a foreigner?
 

I live in Toronto and shipping a car to Vladivostok seems like it would involve getting it to Vancouver first. However, I also happen to be in the market for a new 4x4.

Would it be possible to buy a car in Vladivostok as a foreigner and use it for my trip (through Russia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Norway as well)?

Alternatively I guess I could try and buy a car in Vancouver and ship it across.

Wondering what the best course of action would be. Thanks!

If you don't succeed in buying locally: There are car ferry services (probably RoRo boats) between Canada, USA and at least Hamburg Germany but probably also other cities.
This would mean travelling from Europe into Russia and the stans.

Thanks! This is what's been dawning on me as the best course of action. Simply to ship the car from here (Toronto) to Norway and do my journey from west to east. Perhaps. Difficult decisions :).
