Dili to Darwin - Cleaning
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any contacts in Dili who could help us clean our vehicle, or let us use their garage etc. to clean it ourselves The cost for having someone else clean it for us is extortionate. Many thanks Martin |
Hey mate,
I would see if you could contact someone at the Aussie end to deal with directly at the airport. Or at least to figure out how nazi they will be and what you will need to do. I've thought about this myself, and as an ex biosecurity officer, have an idea of how tough it will be. Especially being a motorbike coming back. Have a read of other threads, as I'm sure you would've. Things to think about will be...discard air filter, change oil/fluids, remove tyres and clean inside as well, cables, nooks and crannies...the list goes on. Good luck mate! You could try ask someone from biosecurity queensland or the northern territory equivalent (which i'm not sure what it is, but BQ will give you an idea). Cheers, Rossy. |
We used A1 Services an Australian run garage, had all the equipment including a crane to get the container off to load our landrover and back on the truck. They even put us up good guys really helped when the ship was leaving 3 days earlier than it was supposed to. We did most of the work to keep costs down, and enjoyed some beers and stories with the guys after work. If Cookie is still there tell him the Irish couple say HI.

NB - I have no personal experience of this, but spoke to someone who did - be VERY careful re water getting into the electrics and then frying them when they pressure-wash it!

Perhaps drop into the CHC office near the airport (Canadian Helicopter Corp) - they have a few Aussies there that ride dirt bikes and might be able to lend a hand.
