I am considering as an alternative to go to Sudan via the Halaleb We Shalatein road that runs along the Red Sea coast, from Hurghada via the Elba National Park to Port Sudan.

Is the Border open between these countries on this road?

Any other advice/comments appreciated ?c?

No, not at all. And you will need a permit just to get to Port Sudan. All road borders are closed at the moment, especially the coastal one as it runs through a disputed triangle of land between Sudan and Egypt.

Its worth the drive out to Suakin and Port Sudan though - nice old British hilltop village to visit along the way. Go via Kassala (where I got my permit) and then come back along the top road towards Khartoum.
