Ferry from Hurghada
 

Is it possible to ferry vehicles from Hurghada to Sharm or the western side to el tor. We would have 2 4x4's and 4 people.

It is. We were told that our 110 with 2" lift and rooftent was too high to fit though. This might be ferry dependent as we met people with similar vehicles that could fit.

Organising it in Sharm was a mess as no one seemed to know what was happening too.

There is a ferry that leaves on odd days from Hurghada to Sharm. It is really easy to buy tickets at one of the travel agencies in town like Thomas Cook for the same price as the terminal and for less hassle. I was on motorbike so cant comment on height, but I seem to recall a few 4WDs on board. Considering the price of fuel in Egypt I would be tempted to drive unless you are in a real hurry as the ferry was relatively expensive for vehicles.

Thanks for the info. I just dont know if i could deal with all those police checks around the canal and down to dahab. I did that route already so i dont mind skipping it and saving it for the return route through cairo.
