Does anyone have any idea about taking a vehicle into India? What costs are involved aside from shipping?

Most people ride/drive all the way. That's what this site is all about.

Other than motoring expenses, you need a carnet de passage. That's about it, aside from normal day to day.

Have a good look at the paperwork section of this site; loads of good stuff.
