HU meet

I've booked in for this years uk hubb meeting:funmeteryes: and wondered if there were any other 4x4s going and if there was enything specific happening?

Brian E 3 Feb 2008 01:54

I havn't signed up for the HU meet yet but more than likely will be going and hopefully will be there longer than the 15mins of last year. I will be taking the 4x4 down don't expect anything arranged for the 4x4's if i'm there i'll be doing some trails in the area.

bmw.bec 3 Feb 2008 04:39

Hi
We went last year in our LC but other than one other 4x4 noon else turned up. We will be heading up this year if others are going.

If we can get a few then perhaps we arrange our little breakout sessions.

Thanks Becky, I see we have segregated camping anyway so it would be good to compare notes etc. Wasn't expecting anything special but I remember talk of a 4x4 specific meet sometime which would be good

anyone else?

roamingyak 3 Feb 2008 13:44

I will probably be there as well.

Grant Johnson 3 Feb 2008 16:35

If the 4x4 folks want anything specific, just let me know and I'll be happy to post it on the meeting page and include it in the schedule - but you need to come up with details/plan - a presentation, breakout planned, or whatever. Should pick up the lurkers that way... :)

JulianVoelcker 3 Feb 2008 17:17

I would be tempted to come along - where would the next one be? (I can't find the info on it).

Also, I am currently planning a weekend meet for the ELCO LC club which HUBB members would be happy to join in - it will obviously be more 4x4 than most HUBB meets, but many of the ELCO members are overlanders so should well be of interest.

silver G 3 Feb 2008 17:18

Thanks Grant, will give it some thought.

Hi Julian, here's the link
http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/meetings/UK2008.php

I might be interested in your meet, when is it?

BedfordMJ 3 Feb 2008 19:13

I also might be interested but it's early in the year for me to make definite plans.

Thanks for the link.

At the moment I am looking at either one of the weekends towards the end of April or some time in September. I hope to have things pinned down in a little more detail over the next fortnight.

HU Meet

Just refreshing the idea of some 4x4s at HU Meet this year (instead of just 2 of us like last year). Notice that places are filling up quickly.....

silver G 16 Mar 2008 21:13

So, we have a Land Cruiser, Merc G wagen and probably a Land Rover - it should be good to compare notes - any other marques? I'm feeling under powered already

Grant Johnson 23 Mar 2008 20:12

Just an update - we are up to 415 out of a possible 500 maximum already, so make your plans soon.

I'm happy to sort / schedule whatever you folks decide you want, so get it together and let me know! :)

Dave and Sam KTM 23 Mar 2008 22:00

expansion

Would it be worth getting together to discuss the expansion of the 4x4 section of the forum?

Grant Johnson 24 Mar 2008 22:49

Good idea! Who else would be interested / able to meet? I'm in London.

We can set up a Skype conference call for a few others interested in joining in that can't get here.

Grant

HU meet

Another reminder about HU meet

When we travelled on our bikes, there were so many 4x4 doing the same trip and yet hardly any 4x4 turn up to Hu meet so come on....

So far theres 3 of us

TWODOGS 7 May 2008 17:44

Find me via the reg desk.

That sounds good, if we all have some ideas to bring along it shouldn't take too long.

Simon

Hi Simon, I didn't think we were limited exactly, just that it's bikes only in the designated area. Or maybe there is an overland vehicle section somewhere on the fringe. Certainly would be good to get together as a group though.

bmw.bec 8 May 2008 19:20

Space left?

Best idea to contact Grant.

Its not so much the space in the 4x4 area as this is designated area but number of people attanding which is restricted to 500 for good reason.

If your interested then get registered and paid.

Save your blushes. I'm bringing a 19 year old Lada Samara.

bmw.bec 11 May 2008 16:09

parking arrangements

Ok guys - have been in contact with Grant regarding the 4x4 arrangements.

Our area will be the car park again but unlike last year where we were mixed with day visiting cars, we'll be all together towards the back - either parked along the fence or a semi - circle formation giving us a communal area allowing us to chat, and perhaps some mini presentations about use of equipment.

Lets sort it out when we meet

Looking foward to it

Becky

Circle the waggons, including the G version, and see off the indians on the iron horses!

ChrisC 11 May 2008 21:47

4x4 camping area

Hi Becky

seems like you know the site from last year
is the car park grass or tarmac?
Where do we put up ground tents?
Could you enlighten us

Ta
ChrisC

Grant Johnson 11 May 2008 22:12

It's tarmaccy gravelly... :(

You can put your tent up there if you like, or find a space 50 yards away on nice grass for your tent.

First in best dressed - it will be full!

See you all there!

bmw.bec 12 May 2008 09:35

Ground tents

Hi Chris

Yep very famililar with the area (2 in 4x4 and 3 on a bike). The car park is a fine surface of gravel but there are areas around the edge that people pitched their tents on last year so shouldn't be a problem.

As Grant says, it will be full so the earlier arrival the better

Becky
