Interesting...

If I had listened to all the 4x4 "Advice" I was given I wouldn't have driven the route I took in Africa and most of all I would never have driven the road north of Nairobi to Ethiopia...

It's easy to interpret usless information, ignore it..

Guess I'm not one for watching the world go by from the comfort of an air con cabin...

Happy Holidays...

Could you post up a picture of yourself and your machine please

Then us 4x4'ers will be able to recognise you keep well away from you as our approaches will plainly not be welcome when you are badly injured and need help , we can just walk on by safe in the knowledge we are carrying out your wishes

I think one of my biggest hates is poeple who want to be devisive. There is enough trouble in the world without creating more divisions here

Now please do us all a favour and start your travels NOW !

Happy lone travels

Rich

Any neither am I, no air con in my cruiser, windows always wide open, no helmet and no visor blocking my views and smothering the sounds of Africa. So you see, preconceived ideas all the way! You are so 1990's

And thanks for confirming that you don't know how to interpret information given to you! Sums it all up I guess. The problem is YOU, but I think you will disagree, despite the overwhelming evidence in the above 3 pages.

Happy lonely travels,
Noel

So, 1 or more 4x4 drivers give you an opinion on a particular route. Having done the route youself you're now of a different opinion: You have 3 choices:
a. Say nothing
b. Tell the HUBB community about your experiences so we can all learn
c. Suggest that fellow travellers are not welcome on the HUBB because they aren't in/on the same type of vehicle as you.

You choose option C .... I have a sneaking suspicion you're not going to be getting much more advice from this community, whether bikers or 4x4 drivers.

As suggested elsewhere on this thread: Please post a picture of you and your bike so HuBBers can put a face/bike to a name. How about a Ride Report?

Good luck
Chris

OP
Are 4x4 posts relevant to this sight?

Yes

As for why, Grant said so. It is his sight. He has a spot for push bikes to.

To the rest
Why is this post not in the hub bar? This is a clear troll Op did not care if 4x4 are part of the hub or why or where. It is not like he must read every post about some road in Africa. He has shown that he makes up his own mind about roads to ride. This is a troll.

You all talk about driving or riding past him if he is in need but you know you will stop. You want a sorry from him ok I will give you it.

Sorry Im a troll but know my way is the best way and I am the best that there ever will be. I am so dam grate I do no wrong ever my bike never will brake down and fulled by gust my gratenes. The earth cools when I am hot by gust my will, beer flows from the rocks at my word. I am the DOG nuts! Hell I am not sorry at all kneel to your better! Only wright about what I wish to read as I wish to read it gust for me!!

Review by DLbiten
Wow man you think with all your grateness you will not need the hub but hear you are wanting to be spoon feed information about roads and how to ride them on a your bike then whine when you get it. "I would never have driven the road north of Nairobi to Ethiopia" You ride a bike you drive a car or 4x4. Roads change some times from day to day and you know it they gave there idea of the road at that time. You did not follow there information, good for you I do the same thing, so why is there a problem you did the right thing.
All your trips are yours to take you will live with your choice as do we all. Grant the man that owns this sight went around the world with out the HUB, the net, and had to make his boxes for his bike as no one made them. He had A map Africa when he went with that and local help he did it. You have been given free info from people that have been there GPS data any help you need and want all free. Then you come here and piss on all of it?
You have not been outside the UK far have you? You act like this away from home you repay people hospitality this way? There are places that will not take this even if you pay them. Many people are saying good luck on your trip I will be nice and say stay home get some help from some older people or your mom and dad about manners it will save you many more problems than is a post about a 4x4 or a bike.

ps. Any 4x4 that sees me I will take any help and beer you want to give me. And AC when it is hot all the better.

I was thinking last night in bed before I went to sleep (yep, I think of HUBB stuff on my way to sleep: I must be a real saddo :freezing:) that Mr Taxi must be a Troll. Never heard such an outrageous comment from an individual serious about travel.

George Michael for me all the way :D.

To Mangochi Taxi

I might not have Your great knowledge and experience but the way I see it advice is welcome from anyone. It`s up to You to use it in the right way and filter the info. Just becouse You had a bad experience with info provided by 1 4x4 driver (and who relies on 1 information only - always some more research is needed), but this do not gives You right to question presence of 4x4 drivers on here.
When I`m setting off for my travels everyone on a bike or not is welcome to the :beer and whatever else they need on the road (no AC in a 101).

OMG...I just feed a troll :D

All good..

Thanks guys, again, the information was no use to me at all...

I'll happily leave you to your section of this "Motorcycle" website.

It's almost time for me to head off anyway, it'll be good to be part of the picture again and not just passing through it..

Safe travels.

...nuff said.

Sorry for picking up fag ends but isn't this site really about travel, exploration and getting your jollies on the road? Whether you use 2 wheels or 4 doesn't mean jack, you could do it on a friggin unicycle and your input would still be valid, and welcome, here.

Shall we as Grant to start a new sub-forum for this mode of transport? jeiger :innocent::offtopic:

Mangochi Taxi 21 Sep 2010 17:37

.The point.

doh I did leave myself open to all the above...

You are all correct, Horizons Unlimited is a forum for Travellers
(irrespective of their mode of transport) and the advice given in posts can be of benefit to all.

I was wrong.

Alasdair.
