U.K. To Singapore (maybe Melbourne) in a 2WD
Now then one and all!
As the title suggests I'm plotting a trip. U.K. To Singapore possibly on the Melbourne if funds can stretch to it! My question is has anyone done this in a 2WD vehicle? I think I'm settled on a route from the U.K through E.U Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Burma, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. (More or less) Can it be done in a 2WD? My only real concerns from the research I've done is Kazakhstan in regards to the road conditions. Everywhere else seems have paved or good gravel roads. Thoughts? Thanks Jack |
Most vehicles in the world are 2wd......a diff lock is useful but you will get there!

UK to Thailand 2014
Hi Jack,
I am sure you can, my wife and I traveled from UK to Thailand in 2014 in our 814D merc and that only had 2 wheel drive, well we did have 4 wheels being driven by the engine as it has 6 wheels if you know what I mean. Check out our web site for our route www.plodd.net www.overlandersthailand.com Dave |
Thanks for the feed back gents!
And the blog to read:thumbup1: trying to do this on a budget and for what its worth I'm thinking that a Citroen Berlingo car (not van) could be a good choice. They seem fairly bullet proof and plenty of room for stuff! Jack |
I wouldn't take a citroen to the shops! the build quality is terrible, and I think you'll struggle with parts availability.
You'd be better with something like an old merc estate, or a lada, they're cheap to buy and well known all through your route |
found a cheap Micra?
