1977 VW Kombi from South Africa to UK
 

Hi folks

I'm hoping to drive this car from Cape Town to the UK somehow. I'm in Cape Town right now and trying to decide whether to get a Carnet de Passage or not. I keep reading conflicting reports when researching.

Can I import this South African registered vehicle to the UK? How much would that cost?

Intended route is something like SA, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Eithiopia, Sudan, Egypt. Not sure if I can then get to Libya and Tunisia and into Italy after that.

Sounds like fun.

There's a lot of ex-SA VW's around in the UK (rust free and RHD is quite appealing), so the answer is yes, but I have no personal experience of doing so.
