My Overland Adventure - UK - NZ, The Americas & Africa
Hi
Pakistan - KKH - Attabad Lake We just completed our trip down the KKH, and wanted to share our photos and blog. Blog Pakistan Part 1 | Nicole - Martins Overland Adventure Photos Pakistan Part 1 | Nicole - Martins Overland Adventure The trickiest part of the trip was loading our 4x4 on a small boat to cross the lake, although the rest of the road is quite bad, it was the main obstacle on our route. http://myoverlandadventure.com/wp-co...MG_3297Web.jpghttp://myoverlandadventure.com/wp-co...MG_3384Web.jpghttp://myoverlandadventure.com/wp-co...MG_3254Web.jpg Martin |
Glad the boat didn't capsize, must be a very calm lake for you to attempt the boat crossing.
Are you going to post any more stuff on the HUBB? |
Hi Martin,
glad to see went for it and more importantly, that you made it! Great effort on the boat! Hope you had a great time, we absolutely loved it! |
Congrats Martin on getting on/off and keeping the boat steady. Amazing pics.
What did that cost to organise? I was wondering how that lake was getting on. Was it your impression that at 24km it is as short now as it's going to be for a while? I recall talk of controlled blasting to lower the level last August. Maybe that's been done and they're settled into loading/unloading for the near future? Interesting to hear Khunjerab is open until early December, too. Getting stuck in China would be been costly! Ch |
Bobduro - Thanks, we both enjoyed it too, would like to go back again one day preferably when its a little warmer,
Chris Scott - Hi Chris, we were told by the locals that there is a plan to lower the level of the lake by about 30m which would clear about 4-10km of the KKH. There are quite a few boats on the lake that are now moving the goods, but they still do not have anywhere to safely load and unload properly. It looks like the lake will be there for a long while or indefinitely. |
Thanks for the info Martin, looks like it's here for a while then.
How much did it cost for the car? On the bike pages they talk of 10-12,000 roops per boat (£75) a few months ago, plus a couple grand for unloading. I imagine for a car its much more but highly negotiable Ch |
Hi Chris
We paid 10,000, they started of at around 30,000 to 40,000. It should only get cheaper as time goes on with more boats being taken to the Lake. |
Hi Martin, thanks. 10k seems pretty good, all things considered.
