I have come to my senses regarding riding the far west in summer on my own, too dangerous and too hot!! Although,my timing has changed as I'll be working until March now, so I'll probably head off to Vic some time in late April... the far west is looking better ?c? Looking forward to your suggestions Cheers Daz :mchappy: |
The far west is certainly an option in April. :thumbup1:
A run down the Great Dividing Range is also nice at that time of year. I guess it comes down to what you'd prefer to see, and how much time you have. Do you intend to ride back from VIC to QLD also ? If so, you could do an Outback/GDR loop. I'll be happy to offer some suggestions if you can be a bit more specific about your goals and time restrictions. Oz is a big place with lots of possibilities for the offroad rider. :mchappy: In the meantime, have a look at this site for inspiration... Hi, Depends what you like, mountains and greenery are great. So are wide open spaces. The west is hot, common sence and preparation required.
Wherever call at Information centres as you go. I carry a "SPOT" locator when in western NSW and central W Aus. Check in with the Community's. |

Back online..it was a busy December. Only 12 weeks till April and I'm starting to get a plan together. I'll head south from Brisbane in Mid April. My girlfriend is coming (pillion) and I'd be looking to do some coast riding, but most of the time I want spend riding in the great dividing range - backroads! She was on the back of my dirt bike in Vietnam for many rides and is used to dirt, mud, hills and rough roads. Final destination for the first leg is Melbourne. No time limit. Also I like the idea of going over the Snowy Mountains and through the Victorian High Country - Omeo, Dargo, Alpine National Park etc. Any suggestion and advice will be appreciated. Cheers Daz:scooter: |
Are n't you glad you decided to delay the trip - Central and Western Queensland is predicting 50C today.

Heading back to Oz tomorrow for the weekend and jumping on the bike again...I'll be up Blackbutt way (QLD) so shouldn't be too hot there..anyways I don't care cos I'm just itching to jump on it a again...it's still only got 225km on the clock....
