first night in Melbourne

hello,
Mee and my wife has rented a 1200 GS from Bike round oz. Our plan is to ride from Melbourne to Cairns in january.
Our first night in Australia will be spent in Melbourne after a 24 hour flight from Sweden.
Is there anyone who can recomend a nice and cheap hotel or guesthouse in Melbourne?

I stayed at the Ibis On Little Bourke St. VERY near the train/bus station. Short walk. Nice but "soulless" as Mark at Bike Round Oz and Claudia, Heinz, and Norbert at Bike Tours Australia described it. :cool4:
