HU '05 Meeting in New Zealand!
Hi all. Just worked out my calendar for next year so have put aside the last weekend in January for "Nigel's Didn't Quite Make It For Christmas Party". The meeting will be on the Sunday the 30th of January with a spit roast, lashings of home brewed beer, and great weather! Last year 48 liters of my special HU brews was drunk and enjoyed... lets make a new record next year! It will be at my place, 1 Railway Terrace, Amberley, North Canterbury, South Island, same as the last two years. Last year's attendees are invited to make comments about last year, but I had a GREAT time. There is good camping nearby and other hotel and motel bookings can be made if you want me to. The house will be open from Saturday afternoon for any travelers and on Monday there will be the now traditional ride up remote trails into the alpine lake region nearby. If you think you might be able to come please email me to help with numbers planning. All travelers and those interested in motorcycle travel are invited.
See you there! Kind regards Nigel in NZ [This message has been edited by Nigel Marx (edited 01 November 2004).] |
I hope to make it there. I'm in Australia now, but New Zealand is next on my list. Haven't found a cheap way of getting my bike there yet, I suppose I should start researching that.

Sure Nigel, just before I get off the ice...... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/wink.gif
Of course I might just be staying the winter this year............. I'll let you know when I'll be back in CHCH |
Hehehehe... sorry mate, it looks like we will have to have our own little HU gathering when you get back from the Pole. I will save some of my special Bikers Best Bitter for you. How is it going this year? There can't be too many HU members who have been to Antarctica once, let alone twice.
Cheers mate Nigel ------------------ "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page"- St Augustine |
Just another reminder of the Gathering at my place, "The Depot", 1 Railway Terrace, Amberley, North Canterbury, this Sunday the 30th January. Turn up any time, even the evening before if you are around. People who turn up early run the risk of being given a job! Spit roasted lamb and beers supplied. Main event kicks off from 2.00pm and there will be a ride the next day for those interested. Phone me +64-3-314-8800 or +64-21-374-686 mobile or email. Some accommodation in a caravan is still available, plus there is good camping nearby. Cheers all!!!

Well, Sunday has come and gone and I must say, I am somewhat disappointed. Last year I had 16 people say they were coming before the event and 24 people turned up. That was great! This year I had 13 people say they would be there and NOBODY arrived! The friends I had there were well short of the number needed to clean up the food, so I went along the street and dragged neighbours in for an impromptu street party. The spit roasted lamb was the best one I have ever done too! Ahhh well... maybe next year.....
Cheers Nigel in NZ P.S. I did get apologies from several people before hand and they were not the object of my petulant post above! I hope they don't think I was getting at them. ------------------ "The world is a book and those who do not travel read only a page"- St Augustine [This message has been edited by Nigel Marx (edited 04 February 2005).] |
Bummer!!!
Sorry to hear that - and all you guys that said you'd come and didn't - shame! Next year maybe we should do a full HU Meeting, and require pre-reg and payment - then they'll come for sure to get their moneys worth. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif Thanks for trying Nigel. Grant |
Sorry the party flopped. Hopefully there will still be beer when I show up on Feb 18.

Hi Nigel and Kitty
Really sorry to hear about the response to your meeting in NZ. John and myself turned up to your meeting in 2004 along with Chris (who drank all your beer, remember) But I would just like to tell everyone what they missed by not turning up: The BEST HOME BREWED BEER in NZ(we drank loads so we can vouch for that)some really scrummy food and two great hosts, Nigel and Kitty. |
Stink.
Sorry we couldn't join you guys - MAF and customs were keeping us in waiting..... We hoped to meet you on our lap of South Island but time constraints and catching up with friends and family prevented this - sorry. Are you going to bother with another HU get-together? If not, anyone else interested? Surely we can get something happpeneing..... Sorry to all HU cpmmunities we contacted - we were too busy with friends and family to look you up but would still love to meet - an HU meet somewhere, some time? We are at present in Auckland - any HU members around please contact us ------------------ Richard Parkinson www.horizonsunlimited.com/tstories/richardandlisa [This message has been edited by parkie (edited 03 May 2005).] |
