Hi Folks,
Am heading out on Saturday morning from Karratha via inland route to Halls Gap Victoria, with the following (perfect world) itin: Saturday 6th - Karratha to Karajini Sunday 7th - Karajini to Leonora Monday 8th - Leonora to just past Norseman (ish) Tuesday 9th - Just past Norseman (ish) to just past Eucla (ish) Wednesday 10th - Just past Eucla (ish) to Port Augusta Thursday 11th - Port Augusta to Halls Gap. Big k days (unfortunately time is of the essence, and I have done a majority of the trip a few times before), but if anyone is heading west to east on or around this time, let me know! Have plugged the Google Map to the thread. I am on a DRZ 400 ('09) Keep riding Gazza. |
I'd be keen for a run out to Karajini on Sat wanna ride up Yampire Gorge? awesome run went up it a couple of months ago, just take the access road out to Auski fuel up and head back 15k's and run up the Hamersley ranges to Dales Camp ground, prob the shortest way to Karajiji

Hiya Olyflyer,
What is the road like mate? I'd be keen, but because of the distances, I need to keep the bike pretty straight so nothing too narly. I will also have panniers and stuff ocy strapped to the bike as well - anyway, you get the picture. Let me know! Gazza |
It's not that narly I did it fully loaded for a weeks trip just nice trail with some water crossings, there has been only about 100mm of rain in the last 3 months in Tom Price so should be no probs.
If not we can ride up Rio Tinto Gorge and get fuel (what's your fuel range on the zook?) at TP then hit Karijini and I can ride back through Yapire on my way home, here are a few pics BTW my mob is 0401 673 349 Oly AKA Damon http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/PB040102.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/PB040104.jpg http://i521.photobucket.com/albums/w...e/PB040105.jpg |
Sounds good Oly!
I have the 28l Safari on her, so am good to get pretty much anywhere (although haven't pushed her that far yet). Am running with a 43 tooth rear sproket for this trip though because of the highway miles, so should see even better economy. My plan was to leave earlier in the morning (not too early - say 0800) and head out to Karajini to get a bit of exploring done once there. Next morning up bright and early to continue on to Leonora. I just got my Rio pass, and haven't been all the way along the access rd yet - so having someone else who knows the way would be gold. If that suits mate - where would you like to meet up? |
I'll PM my details
