Looking for a campsite in Sydney for New Years Eve

Hi all,
Having completed a RTW and all 49 USA states. I am now in Australia, having a break from riding as I now have a bit of a shoulder problem. So I have a very small camper van.
I really would love to see the fireworks in Sydney but I think I have left it too late as all the campsites are fully booked.
I am looking for someone to allow me to park on their drive for a few days over the New Years.

I have also posted this in the Sydney community page, though I have never used the community's, I thought I would post this here too :-)

Many thanks
Will

Just trying for a bump as I will be in Sydney in the next few days.

I am hoping someone will offer me parking space for New Years Eve as it looks like all the campsites are now full :-(
Cheers

Most people 'living in Sydney' don't have a good view of the fireworks from their home. Those that do usually have too many relations and friends that come over. If the rest want a good view they go sit on the foreshore .. the best spots are gone by 9 am that day so it is usually a group effort to 'sit on' their spot in rotation.

Good Luck.

PS - some areas are 'alcohol free' .. and can have a large number of young families .. they leave after the first fire works around 9 pm .. still alcohol free after that time .. but less crowed..

I live in Sydney but way south of the city and I don't have off street parking either. Anyone who has a view of the fireworks from their home and off street parking is likely to be a millionaire so maybe not too many of them around on the HUBB.

If you're still looking for a free spot I've seen camper vans parked at Sans Souci, off the Grand Parade. There's a couple of small parking areas at the south end overlooking the beach that people tend to use. The weather's been good this arvo so nice for a morning swim. Not too far from the airport so could get a bit noisy though.

You could park there and figure out public transport to and from the fireworks using this website:

transportnsw.info homepage | transportnsw.info

good luck with it.

I have a 6 month old baby so I'll be avoiding the crowds by staying at home and being asleep before midnight!

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for your replies and help :-)

My plan was just to park up and then take train or bus nearer to the fireworks :-)
I have been speaking to a couple of travellers and have other places to look at... hopefully even if its miles away I will still see the fireworks :-)

Hello Will,
I may be able to get you a place in Bexley North (Sydney suburb) close to rail. What size is your van as entrance is narrow. I will have to check with them as they may be away.
regards Ben

Hi Will,
I've only just seen this thread so sorry for the late reply. I have free on street parking out the front of my place in the inner city so u can use my shower-toilet.
1km from Central station and stumbling distance from fireworks display at 2am, slightly tipsy when public transport is overflowing.

cheers
Jax
