The basic Dept of Conservation campsites in NZ's forest & national parks range from $0-$12 Usually all you get is a dunny & a picnic table.

If you are riding some of the more out of the way backroads you'll find plenty of cool spots to free camp. Leave no trace if you do this, take a trowel & bury your shit.

Most of NZ isn't crowded. In 3 months you'll have time to find a few of the good spots, Check out the FAQ in the NZ section over on Advrider.com. Have fun & come visit when you get to Rotorua. bier

great info guys. but I still need to figure out; 1) shipping. from LAX to OZ, or from Vanc,CA to Oz. then still, WHY does it cost so much to ship OZ-NZ and back? any leads on cheap shipping/logistics helpful.
