uk citizen buying and exporting New Zewland registered bike
Hi guys,
So i'm from England and i'm on work visa's here in New Zealand. I have brought a bike and March next year I want to ship the bike to Australia for a year's working holiday there (earn money to fund my trip). Then riding it overland home and import it to the UK. I know this is a complicated plan but I came up with it while I was here (NZ) and have spent the last year buying all the accessories and gear for the trip so i'm rather attached to the bike now.:mchappy: Can UK citizen get a Carnet from New Zewland for a NZ registered bike? Can I stay in OZ with the bike for a year? Then maybe renew my carnet for the long trip home? I know these aren't easy questions but I can't find any answer to my situation on the gov websites or the AA here in New Zealand. Any help, hints or clues would be really appreciated. |

Also I'm in the process of reading 'Right Way Round' blog! Although it's a few years ago I'm sure it'll still give me some more info! So thanks Keith! Thanks! And ride safe |
Hi,
Yes i did finish my trip. I sent my bike home with Motofreight once i got the bike home i have to take it for an MOT and a MSVA test to prove it comply with UK laws. It did take awhile to get it home and through all the tests a few months. My friend is doing a similar thing his bike is in NZ and he’s back in the UK looking to get his NZ bike shipped to the UK in the new year |
Import from NZ
Hi Bought a KTM 990 back from NZ after living there for 10 years.
I had to de-register it with VTNZ I had to prove there was no finance on the bike on arrival in the UK I had to apply to KTM in Leicester for and certificate of conformity before it was issued a UK registration. £100 The ozzie and NZ certificate is 12 point where as the UK is considerably higher. |
