Working & Biking Australia
Total stab in the dark, I have come to Australia with hope of hiring a motorcycle to do some touring would also like to tour New Zealand but thats the easy bit, to enable me to do so I must find work and earn enough some money to make it possible. Only been here a week but not had much luck finding work, I am happy to do anything bar work, fruitpicking etc. I have flown into Melbourne but I am happy to go anywhere for work. Anyone need someone hard working, I can adapt to most things, or can you steer me in the right direction.

Its getting increasingly harder/impossible to employ people who do not have the right visa to work in Australia - getting caught can be expensive to you and the person who employs you. For you the risks are usually exploitation in terms of hours demanded of you and being under paid or in some instances not paid at all. You will not be covered for things such as workers compensation insurance if you are injured at work or compulsory superannuation payments that your boss must pay. Some employers will work you for month and then report you to immigration without paying you. If you are caught you will be deported at your cost or your government's cost and your passport is stamped "Not to re enter Australia" which usually invites a lot of questions when trying to visit elsewhere.
Best get the right visa and save yourself the worry. |
try woofing
WWOOF - Home you may not get paid but bed and board is often included in exchange for work don't risk working without the right visa - you could get deported and banned from ever having a visa again! |
Can't do anything about your work situation, but if you make it to Esperance, WA, I'm sure I can organize a (free) bike for you for a bit of touring here

Awh that's really kind will keep that in mind thanks.

By the way everyone I have my work Visa, currently in Mildura but its the quiet season, had a bit of work not enough to save though. If I get enough work I think my best option is to buy a cheap bike maybe a 250 or 400. Ps thanks for the replies also if you know anyone wanting to work/travel their way round by bike direct them my way. Bit of company would be great
