Bike rental in South East Asia
I would like to share my recommendations for bike rentals based on my experiences in South East Asia.
I fly and ride and each rental is for about 3 weeks. Hanoi, Vietnam - Dragon Bikes. I have rented from them twice. They are based in Saigon/Ho Chi Minh but have a partner in Hanoi. On both occasions I rented the Honda XR150. Highly recommended. I hear good things about Tigit Bikes but their rentals cost more though. Chiang Mai, Thailand - Pop Big Bike Rental. I hear that the prices for rentals have gone up in Chiang Mai due to demand. Best to shop around for prices. Angeles City, Philippines - Rent-Your-Bike-Angeles. Reasonable place to rent a bike. There is another company Nice-Bike.com but I would not recommend them as they kept changing their terms and conditions prior to arrival. Thakhek, Laos - I found bike rentals in Vientiane on the high side and they only have 250cc dual sports. They weren't any 150cc dual sports available. In Thakhek, avoid Mad Monkey as I was suppose to pick up a Kawasaki KLX150 but when i went to pick up the bike and pay the rental, the owner's wife kept telling me that she would not recommend the bike going up to Luang Prabang/Nong Khiaw/Phonsavan. Wang Wang Motor Rental - a cheaper alternative for small bikes less than 125cc. Recommended. Penang, Malaysia - Stardust Bike Rental. Highly recommended. I rented a Honda Vario 160 scooter. Medan, Indonesia - Ganda Rental Motor. Highly recommended. This recommendations are based on my own personal experience. I contact the bike rental a month or two prior to arrival either through email/whatsapp to finalize the type of bike, rental rates, extra such as top box, spare inner tubes (if the bike does not have tubeless tyres), terms and conditions etc. beer |
