Hi there,

A bit too early for me to try to buy a motorcycle for my trip but I am curious about how the ownership transfer would go with the bike being outside Canada.

My understanding is that you would have to transfer ownership via mail/online.

When the new owner has the Title/Registration document you both travel to the border together.

The current owner then checks out of Argentina with the bike and then the new owner will use their new title/Reg document to check into the next country. Usually Uruguay if the bike is in Buenos Aires.

If you don't want to wait for new documents to be posted etc, it has been known that people create excellent copies.

Although I am happy to be corrected. I have not done this myself.

The good news is that the Canadian authority is happy to accept the transfer even if it occurs overseas.

Do you know much about the need of CdP throughout South/Central America?
