2016 KTM 1190 R /Buenos Aires /WA plates/ late Dec 2019-Jan 2020
Testing the waters, my wife and I left Seattle in November the bike had 10k miles, I believe it's just over 20k now. Will probably be 25-30 by then. We have had no issues so far and a wonderful ride!
I'll post some pictures, just gushing interest. Might ship back if I can't find a buyer. |
At what price?

Bike details
There has been some interest, so I thought I should dive into specific details of the bike, its history and any issues I think it has.
First, the bike is a salvage title registered in WA state. KTM mounts the sidestand directly to the engine case and that leverage can cause the engine case to crack when the bike is involved in a small tip over. This is what happened to the previous owner with only 2k miles on the bike. I bought it from insurance site and swapped the engine case with a new one and had a decent deal on a basically brand new 1190. I rode in WA until it had about 10k miles, at which point my wife and I loaded up the bike and rode South. We are currently in Ecuador. We haven't faced any issues with the motorcycle and got it serviced at a KTM dealership in Guatemala City. I may do that again in Peru if it makes sense. The only "issue" we have faced is that the oil temp is higher than I remember it being riding back home. After taking the tank off several times to burp the coolant, it turns out that's just what happens when you ride in first and second gear in 100F temps, two-up with a ton of gear. The only other problem is that the rear tire pressure sensor sometimes doesn't display on the dash. I haven't figured out why. Right now, we are at about 33,300 km or roughly 20,600 miles. By the time we get to Buenos Aires I expect we will probably be at 35k miles or 55k kilometers. I have relocated the kickstand with a robust bracket from a seller on ADVrider that also lowers the pegs about a half inch, this can be reversed back to stock height. **THE SEAT IS A SEAT CONCEPTS TALL SEAT** which adds about an inch. It's already a tall bike, so you gotta be tall to ride it, but then they don't give you much room between the stock seat and the footpegs to put your long legs. The bike has Tusk hard panniers that I will include if the buyer wants them. They're inexpensive, but I've loved them more than Touratechs I've used in the past. I also have a Pelican case on the back with a very sweet quick release plate. I will part with that as well- you can use the Pelican or you can take the pucks off of it and use plate with whatever other pelican or any hard case you want making it quick release. I just put a new MotoZ tractionator on the rear, which will probably still have a little life by the end. The one I took off in Quito was decent and had 12k miles on it fully loaded. I've been very impressed with it. Front tire matches and I don't think it'll ever wear out! If I think of anything else I'll add it here, along with a bunch of photos! |
