Selling 2006 DRZ400S in Colombia - Jan 2020

2 Attachment(s)
Hi all,

So after 1.5 years my trip is coming to an end. I will be selling my Suzuki somewhere in Colombia (Medellin, Cali, Bogota, Cartagena) sometime in January. I plan to fly home end of Jan and I'm happy to sell a few weeks beforehand if that works.

The bike has Washington plates, which means that a title transfer is easy. If you're not from the US, there are people that can handle the transfer for a fee. We can also do a Carta Poder which doesn't require a title transfer to legally use the bike in South America.

Price: $1750 USD.
I believe this is a fair price for the bike and what's included. See below for details.

Details:
  • 2006 Suzuki DRZ400S with the kickstarter added
  • Roughly 120k km when sold
  • Includes the Mosko Moto 25L Scout panniers (previous model). Ok condition (inner bags perfect), waterproof and bomb proof.
  • Can include the Mosko 60L top bag. Condition is okay, I have patched a few holes, but still waterproof.
  • 16ish L gas tank - average around 24 km/L, and can get 350km out of a tank.
  • Bark busters with larger wind guards
  • Heavy duty bash plate
  • Clutch replaced last month
  • Chain/Sprockets have approx 5k km
  • Tyres have approx 10k km
  • Air filter replaced 10k km ago, with filter socks
  • Stainless steel oil filter
  • Valves inspec as of this week
  • Battery replaced last month
  • Oil changed between 3-4k km, filter cleaned every second change.
  • Selection of Carb jets, and spares.
  • Includes MSR whisperlite and 2 x 1L bottles.
  • Spare tubes (front and rear) + patch kit
  • All the tools you need for general maintenance
  • Selection of spare parts
  • Little 6L tank bag that's been perfect for me
  • Seat concepts seat
  • Cigarette socket at the dash.

Suspension:
I suggest that you bring new springs for the bike. It's $260 for all 3 springs from RaceTech.

General Comments:
The bike runs very well. Starts quick and easy. Has great power down low for more technical riding, and cruises no worries at 100 km/h. Low oil consumption (I will measure this over the next 1000 km). The carb is currently tuned to a spot where it runs acceptably between 0 - 4000m, once you get off the Andes it's worth adjusting to better suit. No leaks anywhere.

Leave a message or send a PM and we can discuss.

I will add more photos soon.

DRZ for sale

Nathan - I’m planning to join my son in Cartagena in early January to ride south. He’s on a KLR in Guatemala with a reservation on the Stalrhatte end of November. I have a newer DRZ and know the bike. Looking for a reliable bike that won’t leave me in a small village waiting for parts.
We’re from Seattle so the WA transfer should be clean.
Looks like it has all the necessary gear. Anything else to know about the bike’s ability to make it to Patagonia?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
What dates are you thinking of getting to Cartagena?
As for getting to Patagonia in one piece, there is a couple of spare parts I'd suggest bringing/carrying (spare seals, bearings) that way if something needs replacing its a quick job. I had my rear wheel bearing let go in the middle of nowhere Peru, if I didn't have spares with me it would have been a long wait.
A spare front sprocket is worth bringing, they are very hard to find for the drz. I have one spare right now.
Mechanically she runs well. I'll be doing the valve clearances next week and figure I'll check the compression at the same time.

DRZ

Nathan - Current plan is to be in Cartagena first week of January. Would like to Start riding South mid-January. I may not be able to confirm until early December. From your description, your bike sound ideal. Getting the spare parts in the US sounds like a really good idea. Plan to consult with Alex at Overland Title to help with transfer and paperwork. Thanks
Kevin

DRZ?

Nathan -
I'm trying to finalize my travel plans and am interested in buying your DRZ. Is the bike still available and are you still heading for Colombia in Jan?
Kevin
