Hey Guys,

I am planing to do a trip Brazil/Urugay/Argentia --> Ushuaia and than aback north at the west coast of south America.

Since it is very hard to register a bike in South America yourself, I would like to buy a bike from a traveller.

So if you are planing an selling your bike in South America fell free to contact me.

I appreciate all Tipps and am still trying to find a way of registering a bike in Brazil.

Stevo, tim here, I have a bulletproof ‘91 ST1100 that I am busy working my way down from Canada on. Plan to be in Ushuaia by end of feb but would be willing to consider extending that to Brazil by march-ish for a definite sale (had been toying with the idea of making Rio the end destination anyway)

Would discuss selling the bike for around $1200 alone, or depending on how much equipment (tools, bags, camping kit, surfboards etc) you may or may not be interested in, that could also be included.

Hi, will have a fully farkled 2016 BMW R1200GSA for sale in Buenos Aires in the spring. Am planning for April, but can be a bit flexible.

The bike has permanent Montana plates. I can organize title transfer, or you can take it North on a poder. If interested, pls send an email to rtwthor at gmail. thanks for your offer as well. Your 1200 GS looks good and is really a bike of my dreams. Since I just finished my studies I don't think I can afford it. Was planing to spend max 8k $US on a bike.

Buy a bike in Chile...
 

Hi Stevo,

well it was very easy to register a bike in Chile.

A: Buy a new one than Honda etc will do it for you.
B: Buy a used one. Go to the notaria. Sign the contract with the seller BUT BE SURE THEY WILL CHANGE THE NAME in the registro civil.
If they are lazy as they are in the notaria, you will NOT leave the country.
And if somethings happens with the bike the ex-owner pays for everything!

Hi Steve.. I have a BMW 1150 GS Adventure for sale in Brazil built in 2002 with German numberplates and papers.. Easy to transfer to a foreigner.. The bike is ready for Adventure and comes with boxes and all equipment.. We can meet wherever you want in Brazil or Argentina.. I fly to Brazil in January so February March would be good.. For Sale F800GS in Punta Arenas, Ushuaia or Buenos Aires

I have a F800GS (2012, around 25000 to 30000 km at the end of our tour) fully equipped with german registration. Right now we are in Arica.

I could sell it between End of January and March somewhere around Chile or Argentina. In Punta Arenas I know a former Motoaventura.cl mechanic from an earlier tour in 2014, who might check/repair the bike if necessary.

DR650 2009 for sale, 6700 USD
 

I'm on my way to South America with my Suzuki DR650 2009. It is in perfect condition and has all the necessary after-market upgrades and then some. At the time of writing it has 32,000 km on the clock. The wheels alone cost more than USD 800. I'll be selling it in northern South America around February 2019. Asking price is USD 6700. It literally is the perfect dual sport bike for a trip in the Americas. I might sell it with Giant Loop Great Basin saddlebags and tankbag.

Steve I have a Vstrom DL650 for sale at a very good price. I was looking at selling it in January but maybe we could work something out if you are interested.

If you are going to buy a bike whether from me or someone else a USA registered bike seems to be the go. There is a guy in the USA who can do all the paperwork legally for approx $250 USD.

Some people use a notary to authorise someone to use the bike as opposed to changing paperwork. This is what you need to do on Canadian registered bikes.

Some of the countries in Central and South America seem to have some strange laws on bikes registered in that country. The country of choice for buying and selling a locally plated bike seems to be Chile.
