1984 BMW R 80 G/S, Perfekter Reise-Klassiker,fertig f.d.groß
Hi there folks,
Im flying in to Germany in a little while to pick up a bike and head off RTW. I just found this beast on www.ebay.de Listing # 4550309062 Its obviously been very tricked out and highly modified, apparently for overland, and the price is right (for now...) However, i dont understand a word of German. Ive been using a great link to translate passages, ( www.dictionary.reference.com/translate/text.html ) But theres a lot it cant translate. If any German literate folks out there with BMW knowledge could give an evaluation of this bike based on the listing, id really appreciate it.... And dont go bidding on it! I saw it first! heh, thanks ------------------ www.universalcat.org Live Free, Be Good [This message has been edited by Universalcat (edited 20 May 2005).] |

By the way, if you're lucky or not, should you pass Munich on your way eastwards, drop me a line. I'm driving a similar bike and I might be at home.

Hans,
Thanks so much for taking the time. You should have seen the funny things those brand name parts were doing to the text translator.... She sounds interesting....definitely has potential. And the price is cheap right now....$1200 Euros, but theres 3 days left in the auction, so who knows... Im not too willing to buy a bike i havent ridden, or even seen, but i may take a chance, if the auction doesnt go too high. In some of that blah blah blah, did he clearly state anything about the condition of the engine, and gears? Ill send you an email if im in your neck of the woods Feel free to contact me through my website if you hear of any good travelling bikes for sale, under 3000 euros. thanks again, gregory www.universalcat.org [This message has been edited by Universalcat (edited 21 May 2005).] [This message has been edited by Universalcat (edited 21 May 2005).] |
Sorry, haven't been in the internet for some days...
No he didn't mention anything about the engine condition. And 45.000 kms doesn't seem very likely... So, how was your bet? I didn't keep track. Hans PS.: R80 & R100GS are sold for around 3 to 3.5 k€ |
