2004 1200 gs final drive on 2008 model ABS Speedo problems.
Urgent advise needed , I recently purchased a 2008 bmw 1200gs for a good price as I was made aware the bike had been in a minor prang so a 2004 model final drive was fitted to the motor cycle rims were also replaced.
I have just found this out and am wondering if the abs speed sensor could be incorrect ie 2008 model sensor on 2004 final drive or 2004 sensor plugged into the 2008 model model abs? The Abs warning lights are constantly on and the speedo is reading approximately double the speed of actual speed?. I urgently need help in rectifying this error any advise greatly appreciated. Thanks Gazza |
You are correct in thinking they are different. but not only the abs sensor, which fiirstly i dont know how they fitted it because the different years have different connectors so im guessing they chopped the loom, but they also have a differntly spaced sensor ring which is why you are getting the incorrect speed reading and finally they have a different ratio in the final drive.
You will need a final drive off of 2008 onwards model to rectify this |
