Alternative handlebars?
I've just put down a deposit on asecond hand 1150GS. When test riding it, I felt that the stock bars were a little high for my tastes.
Bearing in mind that stock BMW bars are 22mm diameter & that regular 7/8" bars are in fact 22.225mm, does anyone know of any replacement bars with a lower bend that are a straight swap? The other option are low bend Pro-Tapers mounted on small risers - any ideas? Thanks Steve |
Steve, I'm sure I saw an old R100gs at the HU meet two years ago with Renthals on. Presumably they would have the same size bars as your 1150?

Check out Ricardo Kuhn's stuff at http://www.motomacondo.com - great bars and mounts, highly regarded. Ricky matches the bars to you, and he knows what he's doing!

I've seen Ricky's stuff on the Adv Riders site & can appreciate the quality & service he provides but after just having spent £5,000+ on the bike, I can'y justify spending another $350 + shipping & taxes etc.
I may well be going for something like this: http://shop.verholen.de/ The adjustabilty appeals to me. I've e-mailed them to see when they'll have a version ready to take 28mm Pro Taper or FatBars. Thanks Steve |
Ricardo Kuhn is a neighbor of mine (when I'm home) and I second the high quality of his work. He takes it very seriously and will custom tailor bars for you.

Ricardo also machines the end pieces for the bars which allows you to use the heated grips and hand guards. He does very good work.
