Boots to big for my bike!

I have a Dakar 06 and have bought the bmw motocross boots, but I just cannot get my foot under the gear lever anyone know how i can remedy this? I have seen the rallye peg and gear lever in touratech but it usually takes forever to get here in dubai and thats if they have it in stock! Are there any places I could get this locally in dubai?

Try adjusting the angle of the lever before spending any money. Have a look here:

I had exactly this problem on my 06 Dakar when I got my motocross boots! It was virtually impossible to get my foot under the gear change lever.

Do not worry! Just undo and remove the pinchbolt on the shift lever. Wiggle the gear lever off the splines, rotate clockwise by one or two notches, slide the gear lever back on, put the pinchbolt back and tighten!

Et voila!! You will now be able to get out of first gear! It shouldn't even void your warranty either!

The TT footpegs are nice, and certainly much more comfortable to stand on than the OEM ones (if you are planning on alot of off road), but you will have to adjust the gearshift lever when you fit those as well.

BTW great choice of bike! Well worth spending time looking at the wealth of info at http://f650.com/ a fantastic resource for all of us F650 owners.

Thanks, I am extremely happy with my new baby. Can't wait for some knobbly tires so i can hit the dirt! (up right hopefully!)

Just a thought

I have a '06 1200gs adv and I had the same problem with my boots. My feet are pretty big but not atypical I think. Check out the shift lever on the 1200 adv as it might fit and it had an adjustable end on it which I found helpful. It is on a cam and can (when rotated) move up or down and fore and aft to help adjust along with moving it on the spines. That is if it fits. I also took off the rubber as the thick boots made me move my foot too far up and down to get around it comfortably. That said I ended up purchasing a Wunderlich adjustable length lever - very well made but expensive and it will probably take a while for you to get it - but worth every penny as it has really helped to smooth out the shifts and keep me from twisting around my leg/foot.

Hope it helps - enjoy the dirt... wish I was there.

Dean
