Breakdown in Armenia
 

Hello all!

Am very much hoping I can draw on the vast knowledge of HU users here as other avenues seem to be hopeless.
I own an F650GS (2002) which for the last 8000kms has served me very well. Unfortunately I now seem to have an issue with my waterpump (surprise surprise!) and it needs replacing. The issue is that I need a new pump kit and associated bits and sourcing one in Armenia is proving to be impossible.

A few calls to my service guys in Berlin as well as to the head office in Munich have so far proved fruitless. They will not ship parts internationally (for some strange reason).

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can go about getting the parts?

Oh and I need the parts in 4 days :frown:

good luck and be patient removing the oil return line- it's a real '***' - one reason why many remove that and replace it with a flexihose -

P.S TIP for shipping
Arrange it online- you will need the exact parcel dimensions to avoid extra charges (be warned!)

From looking at the chain gang forums and the parts fiche i figure I need:

11142343240 - drain plug gasket
11512343451 - waterpump kit
11517652950 - pump housing gasket
11147706498 - clutch housing gasket

It looks like DHL may not even be able to ship the parts here by Thursday so I may be in for a return flight to Munich :(

The reason for not shipping to other teritories is most likely because it would be contrary to the agreement with local BMW franchise in Armenia who no doubt have exclusivity.

Although they do not appear to have a Motorrad section the exclusive BMW car dealer in Armenia might be worth a call. Locate your BMW dealer

They will have direct access to Munich (or wherever) for getting any BMW listed parts, car and moto.

That would still leave the time problem - but you never know unless you ask.

And yes, as Bertrand says, the oil pipe is a real fiddle and you can only secure the bracket and washer mounting to the cylinder block if they are in the correct order.

all you need is destination and parcel size - get that wrong and they charge you extra

I did end up finding the BMW dealership here after a brief chat with ADAC earlier today. I went to see them and unfortunately they do not have an agreement with BMW Motorrad hence they cannot order parts from Munich. :cursing:

Heh my bad! :oops2: It was a pretty hectic day of expensive phone calls and dodging crazy Armenian drivers! I unfortunately missed the last bit about transglobal... As it turned out Motorworks (thanks djorob!!) helped me no end. 1 call to them got me my parts shipped within 2 hours (they actually recommended DHL anyway). Fingers crossed DHL can keep their 2 day promise and I will have my parts by Wednesday or Thursday!

Errm as far as I can tell from various exploded diagrams and parts fiches (which I have studied at length), the parts I will need for the job are:

Parts 3, 5 and 6

and

Part 2

These would be the 4 parts I listed in my earlier post, the last one being the part I believe you are referring to. Maybe me calling it the clutch housing gasket confused things?? :confused1: Please correct me if I am wrong though! (Although I won't be able to get the part here in time if i am :) )

I just spent about 3 hours reading through the chain gang FAQs as well as other posts here and one that fills me with a fair bit of hope here. Fingers crossed!
