Continue riding with potentially damaged valves?
Hi all,
The cam chain tensioner on my F 800 GS was broken. Not knowing that this was the problem, I rode for about 2000 miles prior to replacing the tensioner. As a result of this the cam chain timing got messed up – which we just fixed today. Now we are wondering if it is safe to continue with potentially damaged valves! Of course we do not want to risk any further damage, but we are currently in Alaska and the next capable workshop is about 2000 miles south from here... I appreciate any helpful suggestion; maybe someone had experienced same/similar issues? Cheers, Uli |
Transportation needed!
Unfortunately we are looking at a whole new situation by now - the bike broke down with complete engine failure. Now we don't worry anymore about going or not :(
BUT, if anyone has any idea how we could get the bike from Whitehorse, YT to Seattle,WA - let us know; we appreciate any help we can get! :help smilie: THANK YOU!!!! |
It might be helpful to other F800 owners if you describe exactly what happen from the start of your mechanical problems so that they will know what to look for on their own bikes and avoid the same problems, is this a fault with them or just bad luck on your part?
