diode boards
Hello all,
I just bought a beat up old r80 G/S I'm going to fix up over the winter for some travel next year. I'm new to this BMW stuff, so bear with me... I've been warned to carry a spare diode board. I stumbled upon these ThunderChild aftermarket boards that claim to be much more 'rugged and reliable' than BMW's part. I'm wondering if anyone here has had experience with these boards, and if they're really as dependable as they claim to be: http://www.eurotechmotorsports.com/f...0&q_StartRow=1 Thanks, Wright ------------------ Wright Bagwell http://www.geocities.com/wwbagwell/ |
Wright,
Tthe Thunderboards have a good reputation, although some say that they are unnecessary. Mount a Bosch board from Motorrad Elektrik, (not the Wherle brand board) on metal mounts, not the rubber mounts, and they are pretty reliable. Biggest problem is COOLING the board, not vibration. If you need a board, it's a tossup - finding a Bosch board isn't always easy. But do use the finned metal mounts and extra ground wires for max safety. ------------------ Grant Johnson Share the Dream! at: www.HorizonsUnlimited.com |
Hi Wright
I have some diode board mounts that I bought in error as my 93 R80GS doesn't need them! Let me know if you want them. Cheers ------------------ Sean |
